Red Barn Farm Meats A Family Farm...

Our family of Swiss and German immigrants started Red Barn Farm 5 generations ago. The farm is the same size it was when John's grandfather, Lenny Plocher, started farming part of his family's farm. Following our ancestors' tradition, we are raising our family and animals here. With the farm being small scale, we take pride in how we care for all our animals as individuals.

The animals live the best lives we can provide for them. We supply them fresh water, good feed and room to grow. Our cattle are rotationally grazed on forages grown on the farm. If any time that they might require additional feed, we feed locally grown forage. Our hogs are fed corn and oats grown on our farm, and soybean meal and vitamin supplements purchased from our local cooperative. None of our animals are given growth hormones PERIOD! Antibiotics are never administered on a daily basis. But just as you treat your children when they are sick, our animals can get under the weather as well and need medication. We are against feeding animals drugs to increase their production.

Every member of our family is involved with our operation. John has a full time job with Syngenta, here in Highland, and performs tasks such as grinding feed, maintaining fence and record keeping. Our children, Luke (9) and Rhett (7) are very involved with the animals; rolling up wire, watering, gathering eggs, feeding as well as sorting and determining which animals to breed. Leni (4) doesn't currently have a job other than naming animals, cuddling the newborns and occupying the buddy seat in the tractor. Kiersten not only does the daily watering and feeding, she is the driving force behind Red Barn Farm Meats, LLC. She is the inspiration behind putting what we have been doing so proudly for all these years into a package of our own.

We are so proud to be implanting a genuine love for the land and animals as well as a good strong work ethic into our children. We hope we will have given them the tools they need to continue sharing our farm and family values with the next generation so that they may do the same.

Red Barn Farm Meats sells and delivers meat to Highland, Illinois area and surrounding communites such as Edwardsville, Glen Carbon, Maryville, Troy, St. Jacob, Marine, Pocahontas and Greenville. Call us today and try our amazing product!
